Ann Soule passed away January 23, 2025 at home in Savoy, Texas after a short illness, with her daughter Rhonda and canine companion Suki at her side.
She was born to Edith and Houston Shults in Topeka, Kansas on April 15, 1948; the youngest of eight children. She spent her childhood in Topeka before moving to Dover, Kansas at age 12 where she graduated from Dover High School in 1966. She met and married Nicholas Soule in 1967 and they moved to California where he was serving in the Air Force. They divorced in 1972 though she remained in California until 1986 before returning home to Topeka. Nick preceded her in death in 2000. Ann relocated to Texas in 2022 to live with her daughter where she remained until her passing.
She is survived by one brother, Dean Shults of Topeka; daughter, Rhonda Knight of Savoy, Texas; two grandsons, Sean Noack of Overland Park, Kansas and Jordan Knight of Rich Hill, Missouri; four great grandchildren, Sophia Knight, Isaiah Knight, Josiah Knight, and Thalia Knight all of Kansas City, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edith and Houston Shults; siblings, Mary “Virginia” Brown, Melvin Shults, Bill Shults, Charlene Steinbrecher, June Hupp, and Rose Shults.
Ann was a world traveler, though she preferred the quiet life of the country which she enjoyed most, being with her family and old friends especially her best friend Alana Barngrover, that she had known since grade school; they remained close until her death. She enjoyed baking, cooking, shopping and bingo with her friends at Papan Senior Center in Topeka. Ann never met a stranger; anyone that met her was instantly friends due to her easy-going nature. Ann rescued and cared for many four legged friends in her lifetime.
Inurnment and services will be in Dover at a later date. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the charity of your choice. Ann’s favorite charity was the ASPCA, of which she was a member for more than 30 years.
Cremation arrangements are with Mullican Little Funeral Home.
