Anna Lee Whitlock Shearer, age 96, formerly of Bells, Texas, entered Heaven on Sunday, June 20, 2021. She was at her home in Denison, surrounded by family.

Anna was born to Charlie and Maggie (Phares) Whitlock at their home in Anthony, Fannin County, Texas, on August 7, 1924.

Anna Lee attended Ambrose Baptist Church as a young girl. She was the oldest member of First Baptist Church, Bells, Texas. She asked Jesus to be her Savior and LORD at the age of 9 years during an open air revival at the church. She often said trusting Jesus was the most important decision she ever made.

She was married to Fred F. Shearer on January 18, 1941. Fred liked to say, we were not man and wife until 10:02 PM.” They celebrated their 73rd anniversary in 2014, before Fred’s death in November of the same year.

She worked for Levi Strauss as a seamstress and for Big Smith factory during the 1950s. She began working for Johnson & Johnson in 1963, retiring in 1989.

Preceded in death by her husband, Fred Frank Shearer; her parents Charlie and Maggie (Phares) Whitlock, step-mother, Stella Locke Whitlock, brothers, Edward L. Whitlock, Coy Dee Whitlock, Troy Glen Whitlock; sister, Marcell Whitlock Rolen, and grandson, Michael A. Davenport.

Anna is survived by sons, Charles and wife, Lenora; Keith and wife, Colleen; daughters, Judith Spaugh and husband, Bob; Phyllis Washburn and husband, Rev. Philip; a host of wonderful grandchildren, delightful great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, July 2, 2021 at First Baptist Church, 105 S. Pecan St, Bells, TX 75414 with Pastor Bill Neal officiating. Burial in Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery, 655 Hebron Rd, Bells, TX 75414.
