Barbara Ann Snow passed away peacefully on November 1, 2021 at Texoma Healthcare in Sherman at 84 years of age.

She was born March 1, 1937 in Dallas, Texas to Joe and Barbara Snell Brooks. She graduated from Bells High School in 1956 and she worked with her father Joe Brooks in his café which he established in Bells in 1950.  After the death of her father in 1967 she took over the business and it would soon become known as Barbara’s Burgers and the rest is history!   All of her children at one time or another helped out and were raised in that café, her daughter Teresa greatly contributed and helped to grow the business throughout the years along with daughter in law Tammy.   It has been estimated by many that Barbara must have cooked over a million hamburgers in her years at the café, it was also the local hangout for many coffee drinkers, story tellers, and gossip spreaders,  who Barbara jokingly referred to as “old codgers”, “loafers” and “busy bodies”, just to name a few!  Throughout the years she was featured in several newspaper articles, on Texas Country Reporter and in Texas Monthly Magazine, she cooked hamburgers for a variety of folks, from members of the Dallas Cowboys to generations of families in Grayson and surrounding counties. The most famous saying around town was “if you can’t find the meat just look under the pickle”!  Barbara’s Burgers was a household name and she was dearly loved by her hundreds of customers and friends, the memories abound from generations of mouths she fed, just about anywhere you go you can run into someone who had ate one of her hamburgers and has a story to tell about it.  Barbara was stubborn, tough and sassy and had a sharp sense of humor and she would just as soon tell you off as she would look at you, but her uncompromising ways led her to overcome many obstacles and sometimes difficult times in her life, which enabled her to raise and provide well for her five children. Though she didn’t wear her heart on her sleeve, her love for others showed through her cooking and the contribution of her hard work that she gave to the community over many decades.  Before her health decline, Barbara loved spending time on her front porch watching all the daily activities in Bells and enjoying an occasional drop in visit from friends, family and neighbors.   She loved collecting antiques and oddities and she had quite an impressive Coca-Cola collection which she proudly kept on display in and around her home. The family would like to thank Heart to Heart Hospice, all their staff and the staff at Texoma Healthcare for the comfort and care they provided for Barbara in her final days.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Barbara Brooks, son Dennis Lee Snow, daughter Sharon Ann Snow, brother Bobby Joe Brooks and long-time friend and companion Joe Everheart. She is survived by her children, daughter Teresa Rolen of Anna, son David Snow and wife Tammy of Savoy, daughter Jennifer Aguirre and husband Eddie of Leonard. Her grandchildren Reed Rolen and fiancé Allyssa Marples of Denison, Spencer Snow Grant and husband Adam of Whitewright, Landry Snow of Savoy and Allyson Bell of Lewisville. Her siblings, brother Bill Brooks of Haltom City, sister Beverly Seale of Richardson, one precious great granddaughter, Elliot Grant of Whitewright and several nieces and nephews.

There will be a come and go visitation at Mullican-Little funeral home on Saturday, November 6, 2021 from 2:00-4:00 PM.  Barbara will be cremated per her wishes and a private burial at a later date.  In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Heart to Heart Hospice of Sherman.
