Beverly June Miller, age 83 of Savoy, Texas went to be with her Lord peacefully at home, after a long battle with IPF and COPD lung disease. Beverly was born in Dallas, Texas in July 1938 and preceded in death by her parents Clyde & Birdie (Harrison) Wortham and her sister Patricia Rhodes.  Beverly graduated from Forest Avenue High School in Dallas where she met Houston (Sam) Miller. They married in 1956 and had their only son, Deric.

She is survived by her loving son, Deric Miller and wife Linda of Southlake, Texas; two grandchildren that called her Nana, David Manson and wife Abbi of Flower Mound, Texas, and Heather Barnett and husband Heath of Richardson, Texas; three great grandchildren that called her Nana Bev, Rylee and Ella Manson and Hazel Barnett; nephew, Robert Bodensteiner and wife Wanda of Mesquite, Texas.

As a child, Beverly’s lifetime passion for horses began on weekend trips to her aunt’s farm with her good friend Jeanine. Beverly got her first horse in the mid-1960s. Since then, Beverly has had hundreds of horses and raised hundreds of foals. Her love for all God’s creatures was unequaled with goats, dogs, cats, chickens, bunnies and one duck.

Beverly’s career path began at Urban Clinic where she worked for Dr. Kratz. Then she moved on to Overhead Door and then to Dal-Tile as an Executive Secretary to the CEO/Owner where she retired. Additionally, she was working weekends at the Red River Horse Sale and buying and selling horses for herself. Retirement freed Beverly to move to Savoy to be near and to raise horses fulltime.  Over the course of her 40+ years of involvement with the Red River Horse Sale, she made many, many friends that she respected for their talents and camaraderie. She came to depend upon, as Beverly would say, “her unofficial adopted son and right-hand man”, Jeff Oursborn and wife Jennifer.

If you asked Beverly what her biggest accomplishment was, she would reply, “being a mother to one of the most wonderful sons on earth”. One of the second-best accomplishments would be when her son flew her to Kanab, Utah to volunteer with the animals at the Best Friends Animal Rescue organization with her sister Pat. She especially enjoyed the low-level flight over the Grand Canyon.  More recently, Beverly was surprised with a thrill when she was honored at the Red River Horse Sale with a covered-wagon ride around the arena in front of her friends, family, and customers attending the Sale. Beverly has always been thankful for the opportunity to be a part of the Red River Horse Sale and all the people that came together to make it a success.  She loved all her family and was so proud to talk about them to her friends.  Although Beverly seemed indestructible, God needed her. She was a loving, kind, independent and a strong woman. She was a mentor to many, and touched the lives of so many people. She will be missed but never forgotten.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 2, 2022 from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM at Mullican Little Funeral Home 754 State Hwy 56 E. Bells, Texas 75414. Graveside services will be held on Monday, January 3, 2022 at 1:30 PM at Hampton Cemetery CR 4220 Bonham, Texas.
