Dolores Nevella Mangrum passed away peacefully at her home in Savoy, Texas on October 9, 2020. She was born to Tom Luster and Leota Nail on June 16, 1936 in Raymondville, Texas.
Leo met Dolores in downtown Harlingen, Texas after he and a friend discovered Dolores and her sister at a loss attempting to change a flat tire. Leo came to her rescue and the grateful young ladies treated Leo to a soda pop. Soon afterwards, Leo and Dolores started dating and they recently celebrated 65 years of marriage.
Dolores was a loving wife and mother to her five boys. After raising her family, she became a teacher aid and eventually a librarian at Sherman ISD serving for 15 years. After becoming a Registered Nurse, she worked at Wilson N. Jones Hospital as a critical care nurse. She finished her nursing career at Reba’s Rehab and retired at age 80. Retirement had little appeal for Dolores and she became a “Pink Lady” volunteer at Wilson N. Jones.
Dolores lived a selfless life of caring for other people’s needs before her own. She lavished her love on her husband, their boys and extended her love and service to innumerable patients during her career as a R.N.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom Luster and Leota Johnson.
She is survived by her husband, Leo Mangrum of Savoy; daughter Charissa Stanley of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Sons, Leo Mangrum Jr. of Tom Bean, Texas, Dennis Mangrum of Sherman, Texas, David Mangrum and wife Robbie of Howe, Texas, Dusty Mangrum and wife Teresa of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Douglas Mangrum and wife Joanne of Bells, Texas; grandchildren, Daniel Mangrum and wife Ryan, Josh Mangrum, Jonathan Mangrum and Tina Cruz, Josiah Mangrum, Judah Mangrum, Dennis Mangrum Jr. and wife Stephanie, Cheryl Campbell and husband Josh, Collin Mangrum and wife Olivia, Drew Mangrum and wife Brooke, Taylor Mangrum, Victoria Reynolds; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Sheri, Chrissy Daniels; brothers Johnny Luster, Tommy Luster, Freddy Luster.

With deepest sympathy to the family of Dolores. We are all sad to hear of the news. May God continue to comfort your family and friends, Dolores.
Delores was my Aunt. But not only that she was like a second Mom. Moving from South Texas to Bells, I was a bit nervous!! But she assured me that everything would be alright. I had many conversations about High School, classes to take and of coarse boys!!!!
When my own Mom passed, I was pregnant for the first time and felt so scared and all alone. But a phone call to her, all my anxieties went away. She left an impressive impact on the person I wanted to be. She always told me to reach for the sky and don’t let anything keep me from what I wanted out of life!!!! May you Rest In Peace Aunt Delores, until we meet again!!! Thank you for you love and guidance in my life!!! Love you, Brenda (Mangrum) Clifton
