Earline was born July 12, 1929 to C.P. and Clara (Tyner) Harris in Gotebo, Oklahoma where she was raised. Her mother placed her on a bus to Denison, Texas the day after high school graduation to stay with her sister. She started working at Kraft foods and it was there, she met her future husband David Potter, they married on April 16, 1949. She passed peacefully on October 27, 2022 at Texoma Medical Center, Denison at 93 years, three months, and 15 days of age.

They made their home in Denison until David’s work took them to the Dallas area. They built a house in Irving, Texas and lived there until December, 1969 when they moved to Bells, residing there the rest of their lives. After moving to Bells, she worked in Dallas making vinyl tops for cars for several years, commuting daily but quickly decided against it. After that, she went to work for Knight’s Furniture in the drapery department. She worked upstairs making custom drapes, bedspreads, and pillows. When Knight’s closed that department, she purchased the tables and machines and converted her garage into a drapery shop. Earline was a wonderful seamstress, making clothes and dresses (often time without a pattern, or by looking at a picture.) She also did work for a few interior decorator shops in Sherman as well as her clients on the side.

Earline was a faithful member of Savoy, Church of Christ. She attended lady’s Bible class regularly until her last year and it was a highlight of her week, she loved the lady’s Bible class! For several years, she was involved with sending correspondent courses to Africa. She helped many come to Christ. One man actually came to the United States for ministerial training and made a special trip to meet her. She loved to read and study her Bible; reading the Old Testament in the morning and the New Testament before going to sleep.

She was also a great card sender. She kept up with birthdays, mailed Get well cards and cards of encouragement. Earline was physically active into her 90’s; mowing her lawn and picking up buckets of pecans each year. She was also a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Mavericks, and Texas Rangers.  Earline thoroughly enjoyed her family and holidays were special particularly Christmas with homemade chocolate covered cherries and peanut patties. Sunday dinners with the family were known as “Scriptural Dinner” with a set menu of roast, potatoes, and brown gravy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, C.P. and Clara Harris; husband David Potter; and sisters, JoElla Teel and Gwen Nicholas. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Robertson and husband Max, of Bells; son, Tony Potter and wife Jan of Bells, foster daughter, Connie Tarver and late husband, William. She is also survived by grandchildren, Mitchell Robertson and wife Katrena of Weatherford, Texas. Amanda Smith and husband Joe of Bells, Travis Robertson and wife Alaina of Jackson, Tennessee, Rayna Patterson and husband Ryan of McKinney and Rylie Ruth of Sherman; great-grandchildren: Rylie, Xander, Tucker, Xoie, Ivey Ann, Austin, Jackson, Braydon, Laydon, Bristol, and a host of nieces and nephews, family and friends.
