0000-00-00 –  April 11, 2017 Eleonore Sophie Katharina Leva Whiting 91, passed away April 11, 2017. Mrs. Whiting was born to the late Robert Hans and Karola Engelhardt Leva in Germany where she received her education before coming to the United States in 1948. She and Dugan Dale “Toots” Whiting were married on November 27, 1948. They began their married life on land that had been in the Whiting family for several generations. Her husband preceded her in death on May 28th, 1970. Eleonore managed the family ranch after her husband’s death along with other business interests and has lived on family land all but 3 years of her life in America. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, where in her earlier years she was the church organist, President of the Tabitha Society and later active with the church choir. Most people will probably remember her from her wonderful cakes and pastries and once she knew your birth date or anniversary date, you were sure to get a congratulatory card or phone call. If she found out you were ill, a card or phone call would soon follow.
Surviving are two daughter, Carin Monk and husband Gene of Denison and Ingrid Fowler and husband Don of Ruidoso, NM; two nieces, Susan Taylor of Centennial, CO, and Lisa Gibson of Stagecoach, TX and their respective families.

Mullican-Little Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Services will be held at Grace Lutheran Church on Tuesday, April 18th at 2:30 PM. Pastor Michael Mattil will officiate at the service with burial following at Bells North Cemetery on Hwy 69 in Bells. Members of her church will serve as pallbearers. Respecting her wishes, there will be no family night; but the family will be present from
1:00 – 2:30 PM, Tuesday, prior to the service.

The family would like to thank the caring staff at Pecan Point Assisted Living, TLC private caregivers Barbara and Michelle, family friend Penny, and Hospice Plus.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Whiting’s memory to Grace Lutheran Church, 2411 Woodlake Road, Denison 75021 for the Leva-Whiting Scholarship Fund II.
