Elva Pearl Goracke was born February 27, 1923 and passed from this life on February 19, 2026 at the age of 102, eight days before her 103rd birthday.

She was born in the community of Canaan, between Bells and Whitewright, Texas, to Hosea Monroe Rose and Pearl Grace Rose. She married Erwin W. Goracke on December 8, 1956 in Los Angles County, California.

Elva attended schools in Grayson and Fannin Counties before going to work at various places such as a Linen factory, a nursing home, Hardwick Etter Mfg. where she made bomb shells during World War II, and Pool Mfg., a sewing factory where she made uniforms and western wear.

Elva was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church during the 1970s where she loved singing and praising her Savior. She later became a member of Hebron Baptist Church and attended services regularly until her health declined. After entering Cedar Hollow Nursing Home, she attended services there. She loved the Lord and enjoyed singing hymns and listening to His word.

Her hobbies consisted of taking excellent care of her family and gardening and canning fresh vegetables with her two sisters, Faye and Treva, for many years. She and Erwin also dedicated several years to the Helping Hands Ministry, distributing food to the needy.

Elva will always be remembered for the love in her heart for everyone. We couldn’t have asked for a more godly, loving mother. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her.

Elva was preceded in death by her husband, Erwin W. Goracke; parents, Hosea M. Rose and Pearl G. (Smith) Rose; nine brothers and sisters; son-in-law, Philip Walthall; granddaughter-in-law, Angela M. Woodson; and grandson, Jordan Carter.

She is survived by son, Randy (Michele) Goracke of Bells; daughter, Paula Walthall of Savoy, Texas; son, Rodney (Tracie) Goracke of Bells; grandchildren, Holly Segura (Angel), Christie Goracke of Pottsboro, Texas, Ashley Woodson, Nick Hammonds, Brandy Walthall all of Bells, Derrick (Ashlee Hale) Goracke of Sherman, Brice Goracke (Chessie Holt) Goracke of Bells; 18 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren.
