January 19, 1954 –  July 15, 2014 James Griffin Cox, III, 60 year old Ector resident, passed away at his home on Tuesday afternoon, July 15, 2014. James was a loving man who was devoted to his family and friends always putting other’s needs and wants before his own. He loved being a truck driver, taking pride in doing a good job.
James was born January 19, 1954 in Bonham, Texas to parents John Oliver Cox and Dorothy Nell (Hill) Cox. James married Nancy Marie Sires and even though they divorced, he was always married to her in his heart. She preceded him in death in June 2013. James graduated from Ector High School and was a member of the Ector Baptist church where he had attended since he was eight years old.

James is survived by his daughter, Nancy Rushing and her husband Damon of Ector; son, David Prince and wife Laura of Rockdale, Texas; sister, Dorothy Nell Gibbs and husband Ronnie of Pottsboro; three grandchildren: Christopher, Ariane and Shyann Rushing, all of Ector; nephew Mark Gibbs and wife April and their children Reagan and Andy of Ivanhoe; niece Carrie Schiebe and husband Charlie and their son Gage of Durant. James is survived by many friends, but he had one who was his life time friend and brother by choice, Billy Don Phillips, his wife Carla and their children Casey and Cody.

Loved ones who preceded James in death were his parents, wife Nancy and infant son Shawn Griffin Cox.

Funeral services for James are set for 11 A.M., Saturday, July 19, 2014 at the Ector Baptist Church in Ector, Texas with Reverend Morris Cook officiating and burial at Randolph Cemetery following the church service. Friends who will be serving as Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers are: Billy Don Phillips, Casey Don Phillips, Cody Don Phillips, Bobby Ray Swindell, Brett Stone, Christopher Rushing, Choice Johnson, David “Shorty” Polk, Brian Stone, Jimmy Dickson, Dennis Stone, Joe Smith, Billy Dean Swindell, Randy Morris, Ronnie Gibbs, Charlie Schiebe, Mark Gibbs, Ernie Hill, III, and John Hill.

The family will receive friends at the Mullican-Little Funeral Home in Bells/Savoy from 6 until 8 P.M. on Friday, July 18, 2014.
