Janice Reed

September 23, 1943 - January 13, 2025

Janice B. Reed of Anna, Texas passed away on January 13, 2025. She was born September 23,1943. Janice was a force to be reckoned with. The atmosphere changed when Janice walked in the room. Her gentleness would never be confused with weakness. She was a fierce defender of her three girls. It has always been known it was Janice and her girls. No matter what the occasion Janice would jump in her car and could always be counted on to show up. She showed up for everyone in her life whether it be a friend, colleague or family, Janice was there. She would show up car loaded down like she was moving in because in her words “you never know what could happen”. Her proudest achievement was raising her three girls as a single mother. Second to that achievement was her 30-year career at General Motors where she started in 1977 and retired in 2006. There she broke down barriers for women working in a man’s world. When asked how she managed employees or colleagues her response was, “you can diffuse any situation by simply listening”. Janice was also the most incredible grandmother in the world. Lovingly referred to as “Maw Maw”, Janice is the grandmother to 11 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. When asked what Janice’s advice for the world is her response was be kind to one another. Janice was a true southern woman but undoubtedly tough as nails. Janice is preceded in death by parents Earl and Mittie Dora Barnett. Sisters Joyce Sharp and Earline Pritchard. She is survived by sister Jackie Mayo. Daughters Caprice and Greg Poole, Lisa and Mark Carswell, Gloria and late husband Jeff Higgins. If we print all the names of the grandchildren, spouses and great grandchildren, we will be providing you with a novel and lets be honest this card is not that big.

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025 from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM with a service beginning at 2 PM at Mullican Little Funeral Home 754 State Hwy 56 E. Bells, Texas 75414. Interment to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Bells, Texas.

    Janice was one in a million. She was strong as well as graceful. I cherish the years working and learning from her. I pray for the family during this time. RIP friend.

    Janice was a good person and respected by everyone at the General Motors plant.Janice worked in the Suggestion office processing people’s ideas which saved Gm Millions of dollars while she was there. Janice was a fine of a lady as. I ever knew, she will be missed by many.Rest in peace my friend.

    So Sorry to hear about Janice. She was a very kind and beautiful person. She was well known in High School, a great basketball Player and loved by all that knew her in Eastman Ga and Dodge County High School. . Prayers for her Family. RIP Janice. You will be missed.
