Jean Garner age 95, of Cherry Mound, passed away peacefully and went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 29, 2025. A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Cherry Mound Cemetery. Officiating the service will be Mark Garner.

Jean was born on December 17, 1929, in Cherry Mound, Texas to the late Raymond and Bertha Wagner. One of eight children, including her beloved twin sister, Jean grew up attending Cherry Mound School and working in the family’s vegetable fields, instilling in her a lifelong love for nurturing and caring for others.

It was at church where she met the love of her life, Weldon Garner. After he gave her a ride home one day, the two embarked on a beautiful journey of more than 62 years of marriage, side by side. Together, they raised three children, and Jean devoted herself to her family as a loving mother and homemaker.

Jean found great joy in the simple pleasures of life—spending time with family, camping, fishing, going to garage sales and auctions. She was a storyteller, a source of treasured memories, and a pillar of love, laughter, kindness, forgiveness, and wisdom. Her spirit and lessons will live on through all who knew her.

She is lovingly remembered by her niece, Patricia Blankenship; grandchildren: Ray Garner and wife April, Chris Garner and wife Nicole, Brian Dunaway and wife Andrea, Kimberly Firquain, Chestina Holt, and Chester Holt Jr.; 11 great-grandchildren; and countless extended family members and friends. The family especially wants to acknowledge her caregiver, John Firquain for his devoted care for her.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Weldon Garner; her daughter, Sheila Holt; sons, Danny and Charles Garner; parents, Raymond and Bertha Wagner; brothers, Raymond “Nabby” Wagner, Arthur “Billy” Wagner, Donald Wagner, and a Robert Wagner; sisters, June Wagner, Virginia Hodge, and Mary Jane Frith.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Garner, Chris Garner, John Firquain, C.J. Holt, Mark Garner, and Trevin Firquain.

Jean’s legacy of faith, family, and enduring love will be always cherished.
