Jerry Ray Pedigo, also known as Jake, Pawpaw, Big Pawpaw and Great Papaw died on January 14, 2018 after a short illness.
He was born on March 19, 1935 to William Herbert and Alma (Turley) Pedigo. He was born on the family farm between Denison and Bells that remains in operation today. Pedigo Dairy was established around 1933 and many sacrifices were made by the family during the depression years to hold onto the farm. Jerry attended the Starr Community School during his elementary years, several years in Denison and then Bells High School making life long friends along the way. He quit school his sophomore year to help his father farm full-time.

Jerry was saved and baptized at the Baptist church in Bells. He loved the land and loved to care for God’s creation.

The Depression lessons learned of making do with what you had, working tirelessly, and cautiously expanding were learned by most farming families. Communities during those years were close. Classmates were neighbors, neighbors were friends, and friends helped each other during the hard times and celebrated during the good. Jerry’s friends worked together and played together. Jerry’s best friend Charlie Moore, said he was the only man he knew that could “squeeze one more dime out of a dollar.” Jerry met his sweetheart Barbara Sue Woodson, during his Bells High School years. They were married on March 5, 1954. Their four children were raised on the farm where everyone worked together and they prospered. Jerry’s brother Wayne, and his children Vickie, Steve, and Joe Benny helped with haying operations as well. Jerry later married Hinky Emerson and helped raise her four children, Dean, David, Duane and Vicki. In 1993, Jerry met his companion, Runnel Mosely and her three children, Audie, Chris, and Vicki. They enjoyed many years together.

Jerry enjoyed family gatherings especially ones including homemade ice cream.

He is survived by his children, Gina Anderson (George), Gary Pedigo (Brenda), and Rhonda Pedigo Heins (Marvin); grandchildren, Josie Anderson (Rod), Kim Duncan (Wes), Jake Anderson, Whitney Vaughn (Casey), Trey Pedigo, Cheyenne Dorris (Ashley), Laramie Dorris (Brooke), Trisha Corbin, and Chance Corbin (Jessica); great grandchildren Shelby, Abbie, Bailee, Barrett, Cooper, Garrett, Ava, Alec, Soraya, Kole, Ryder, Ashriel, Jackson, Hunter, Peyton, Ellie and Violette; also survived by many cousins, nephews, nieces and friends. He was preceded in death by parents, son Greg, brother Wayne, and step-son Dean Emerson Jr.

The family would like to thank the staff at Plano Medical City and the Home Hospice of Grayson County for taking exceptional care of our Dad.
