Lena “Joyce” (Seay) Armstrong was born in Farmersville, Texas on February 25, 1940 to Thadus Lee Seay and Nellie Beatrice (Woods)Seay. She was one of six children. She passed away peacefully on January 20, 2021 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas.

Joyce met her future husband, Clyde W. Armstrong at Garland High School. They married on July 12, 1958 in Garland and made their home there. Through 50 years of marriage Clyde never let his bride forget that she was older than him! Clyde’s mother had to sign for him to marry. Blessed with three children, Clyde Allen Armstrong, Connie Elaine Armstrong, and Lawerence Wayne Armstrong.

In 1958, the young couple became a career Navy family serving for more than 20 years with stops in Florida, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Texas and Hawaii. After military retirement, they moved to Savoy and made it their home.

Joyce created a happy and stable home environment. She found good in everything. Joyce was kind, thoughtful, and helpful. She excitedly became Granny to seven grandchildren. Then she was Great Granny given the affectionate title of G.G. by fifteen great-grandchildren.

Holidays were extra special; Joyce had a great passion for decorating and celebrating the holidays. Most of all she treasured having her family around.

She was a loving wife and nurturing mother, Granny, and G.G. In retirement Clyde and Joyce would travel, with destinations across Europe. Her favorite country was the Netherlands. They fulfilled a life-long dream of traveling to Alaska. Joyce leaves a legacy of love, care, affectionate, and hard work.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Wayne Armstrong; her parents, Thadus and Nellie Seay; siblings, Jackie Seay, Peggy Addington; son-in-law, Charlie McCarley.

She is survived by her children, Clyde Allen Armstrong and wife Alisa of De Kalb, Texas; Connie Elaine McCarley of Bonham, Texas; Lawerence Wayne Armstrong and wife Wendy of Savoy, Texas; grandchildren, Chrissea Huff and husband Joshua of Muldrow, Oklahoma; Tina Sharp and husband Kristopher of New Boston, Texas; Ashley Ashlock and husband Christopher of Celina, Texas; Amanda Hines and husband Adam of Altus, Oklahoma; Joshua Holcomb and wife Melanie of Port Arthur, Texas; Robert Cole and wife Autumn of Clarksville, Tennessee; Jesse McCarley of Bonham, Texas; sisters, Dixie Gilbert, Wanda Hass, and Joan Hass.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at 1:00PM at Little Jordan Cemetery in Savoy, Texas. Due to Covid-19, masks will be required at the graveside service. Social distancing is requested.
