July 5, 1921 –  March 15, 2010 Leon was the youngest and last survivor of the family with four brothers and one sister. His family still owns the land where he was born but the Great Depression forced his father to leave Arkansas about 1928. He found work in the Texas panhandle near Clarendon but would eventually settle near Pink Hill, between Sherman and Bells. Leon graduated from Bells High School in 1938. Leon moved his family to Sherman in 1950 to begin working for Montgomery Ward. For most of his career, he managed the furniture department at Montgomery Ward and retired after 25 years of service.Leon and Mary were founding members of Texoma Squares square-dancing club in 1952. They were also very devoted to their Builder Uppers Sunday School class at Key Memorial United Methodist Church for over 45 years.
