Linda Joyce Duncan Hix, age 71, left this world to be with the Lord on March 9, 2022.  Linda was surrounded by family as she passed away peacefully at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas.

Linda was born on November 5, 1950 in Bells, Texas to Walter Duncan and Ruby (Smith) Duncan.  She attended school in Bells where she played basketball and participated in drill team and Future Homemakers of America before graduating in 1969.  Linda was baptized in the Red River while still in high school and was a member of Hebron Baptist Church in Bells, Texas.

After graduating high school, Linda entered the professional world and worked for several local companies, during which time she made many dear and lifelong friends. Linda’s final job was a Correctional Officer with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice where she proudly served the citizens of the State of Texas for 16 years before retiring.

Throughout her life, Linda loved being silly and spending time with family and friends.  Her favorite things to do included playing softball and volleyball, playing card games and dominos and loving on her dogs Gracie and Bubba.  She loved sports and was especially fond of WNBA basketball.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Ruby Duncan, her brother, Morris Duncan and sister, Nelda Duncan Wells.

Linda loved, and was loved, by her family.  She leaves behind one son Matt Whitworth and his wife Lori of Howe, Texas, Uncle Bobby Earl Smith of Bonham, Texas, Nephew Mike Wells and his wife Vicki of Kentucky, Granddaughter Stephanie Culifer and her husband James of Howe, Texas, Granddaughter Jennifer Tapia and her husband Carlos of Sherman, Texas, Grandson Christopher Groseclose and his wife Destiny of Anna, Texas as well as seven Great Grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Texoma Medical Center for their incredible display of kindness and compassion during this difficult part of our journey.

Per Linda’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral service.  The family will receive guests at Mullican Little Funeral Home 754 State Hwy 56 E. Bells, Texas 75414 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 19, 2022.
