February 8, 1940 –  January 27, 2011 Funeral services for Nina Peterson of Houston and formerly of Bells will be held at the Hebron Baptist Church on Monday, January 31 at 2:00 P.M. Officiating will be Reverend Houston Garner, Rev. G. Verle Peterson and Rev. Tim Harkins. Interment will follow the service at the Hebron Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Phil, Justin & Matt Ferguson; Bill Stone; E.D. Thomas; and Stan Vick.

Mrs. Peterson was born in 1940 in Andreedka, Ukraine to parents, Stepan Nepscha and Hanna Zahnej, both preceded her in death. She married Duane “Pete” Peterson in 1960 in Chicago. Pete preceded her in death in 2008.

Nina was a member of the Hebron Baptist Church of Bells. Nina migrated with her family to a German DP camp in 1945 and to the USA in 1950. Following graduation from high school in Wisconsin she entered into office work in Chicago. After time spent in Chicago and Memphis, they moved to Dallas, Texas. Here Nina served nearly 30 years at The Lamplighter School, first as caregiver for teachers’ young children, then as office manager and “school nurse,” retiring with Pete to Savoy, Texas in 1998. God’s gracious hand relieved her of physical suffering from cancer on January 27, 2011. She moved to Houston recently to be near her son and his family.

Mrs. Peterson is survived by her two children, Steven Peterson & wife Andrea of Houston; Karen Peterson McDermott & husband Jim; brothers Toly & John Nepscha; sister, Klawa Thresher; three grandchildren.
