August 15, 1940 – March 3, 2016 Peggy Ann Neal Peggy Ann Neal was born in Bonham, Texas on August 15, 1940, and left this world for her heavenly home on March 3, 2016. Her memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, March 6th at Campbell Road Church of Christ at 2828 Campbell Road, Garland Texas. Floral Arrangements may be sent to the church.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Peggy was an inspiration to countless people whose lives she touched over the years. She was defined by her optimistic outlook, limitless commitment to others (especially to those in need), and her unwavering love for The Lord. As a young child she was sweet and shy, but grew into a woman of great faith and strength, who never met a stranger. She loved to meet new people, run into old friends, and share her life and faith with everyone.
Peggy was preceded in death by her father and mother, Charlie and Mary Herpeche of Bonham. Her brother, Charles Herpeche Sr., also of Bonham, went on before her. She was also preceded by other loved ones– Herpeches, Claytons, and Neals. Her beloved husband, Ronald Dee Neal, who she met “on the square” in Bonham, passed to the next life in 1994. Peggy Ann and Ronald Dee raised their two children together in Bells. They loved talking about their kids, small town events, Church, family vacations, and sitting on the porch and enjoying the North Texas sunsets.
Peggy is survived by her daughter Cindy Neal Elder and her two children Jacob Riley Elder and Joshua Neal Elder. Peggy is also survived by her son Chris Neal, his wife Glynnis, and their son Jonah Dee Neal. Peggy leaves behind many precious friends: some she has known from her girlhood, others she worked with, and many she took under her wing at some point. She loved saying her prayers with her friends over the phone, chatting on Facebook *at all hours*, and visiting when possible. Loving others well was a significant part of who she was.
Peggy’s love for helping others remained a constant throughout her life. She retired from the Texas Department of Human Services where she helped qualify and assist others in receiving benefits for families with dependent children. She was also a preschool director, substitute teacher, ombudsman, alzhehimer’s care giver, and a brilliant writer and poet. In memory of her love for helping others, her family would like to deeply thank the many nurses, doctors, caregivers and fellow patients she met during her illness. She loved getting to know them and genuinely sharing life.
At the end of her life, one thing became clear: Peggy’s love for her grandchildren—Jacob, Joshua, and Jonah filled their lives, as well as hers, with light and love. It is that type of amazing love that Peggy Ann Neal would like us to all show each other.
