Ralph E. Ballard was born on August 16, 1940 to Virgil and Beulah (Burchfield) Ballard. He married Carol Joy Meek on January 31, 1959. He passed on to heaven on Monday April 17, 2023 in the presence of his family at his home.
Ralph was a truck driver for Burlington Industries for 17 years. They moved back to Texas from West Memphis, Arkansas in 1977 and went to work for Skaggs Alpha Beta. He later worked for Farley Grain and Carl’s Tasty Sausage. Ralph enjoyed doing farm work for the neighboring farmers. He enjoyed being around all his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved and adored them; and enjoyed aggravating and teasing them. He enjoyed playing checkers and Monopoly with them, and letting them ride on the tractor with him. He also shared a birthday with his great granddaughter Saige.
Ralph was a devoted husband and father; he was always there for his children and he would do anything for them. He enjoyed sweet treats, especially Hershey bars and apricot fried pies and Coca-Cola. He would get up early to make coffee and have an early morning conversation with his family. He was a hardheaded, and a strong-willed man, he loved his family dearly. He was a hard worker and loved to watch westerns. He loved to tease our mom and give her a hard time, but he truly loved her, they were best friends, and they were together for 64 years.
He survived by his wife, Carol; daughters, Denise Harvey and husband Dannie, Angela Stewart, and Tricia Hollingsworth and husband Keith; eight grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charles and Harold Ballard.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday April 19, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Sunnyside Cemetery in Savoy, Texas.
