September 3, 1934 - September 29, 2019

Ruby Mae Baker of Bells, Texas passed away September 29, 2019 at the age of 85.  She was born September 2, 1934 to Donald “Truman” Allen and Annie Mae Prince Allen in Randolph, Texas.  Ruby married the love of her life, Earl Wayne Baker on May 14, 1955 in Randolph Baptist Church.  She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Earl Wayne Baker of Bells, daughters Pam Hartwell and husband Jerry of Bells, Texas, Melba Turbyfill and husband Chuck of Ravenna, Texas; Grandsons Jay Hartwell and partner Chris Bradbarry of North Richland Hills, Texas, Craig Turbyfill of McKinney Texas, Jake Hilliard and wife Rasynda of Allen, Texas; Granddaughters Lisa Northington and husband Caleb of Fort Worth, Texas, Cara Hilliard of Blue Ridge Texas; 15 Great grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Anita “Jo” Hilliard and son-in-law David Hilliard; son Mark Gattis, parents Truman and Annie Mae Allen, brother Calvin Allen, sisters Lois Grant and Ruth Heatley.

Ruby worked as a seamstress for many years before retiring to work alongside her husband in his business, Baker’s Garage.  Ruby loved her husband, children and grandchildren and enjoyed cooking for all of them.  Ruby always wanted everyone in the family to have “something” they liked to eat so there was always a great variety of food at family gatherings.  She loved to read, garden and work puzzles.  Earl is fond of telling the story how he would come in the house and find her “napping” sitting straight up in her chair but still holding the book she was reading; she would wake and go right back to reading where she left off.

A remembrance memorial will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday October 2, 2019 at Mullican Little Funeral Home, 754 E Hwy 56, Bells, Texas 75414.

    Dear Earl, Pam, Melba and family, I am so very sorry to hear of Ruby’s passing. She was one of the sweetest ladies I’ve ever known and I have so many fond memories of her and the entire Baker family. Such a loss leaves a void that can never be filled, but I hope that your countless memories bring comfort in the days ahead. Know that I am thinking of you, praying for you and hugging you with my heart. Much love.
