Mr. Spurgeon Brannum, 84 year old Bells resident, died at his home Thursday evening and a few hours later his wife Lois Brannum, 85 years old, also died. They were both under Hospice Care and had been ill for a while. A double service will be held at the Mullican-Little Funeral Chapel in Bells at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, February 14, 2011 with interment at Cedar Cemetery outside of Tom Bean. The Reverend Duane Peters will officiate the service.

Mr. Brannum was born January 5, 1927 in Sherman, Texas to Dee Brannum & Emma Drue Spurgeon. He and Lois Elizabeth Newell married in 1976. He was a former Purchasing Agent for the Quaker Oats Company and was also a farmer.

Lois was born November 20, 1925 in Ada, Oklahoma to H.G. Newell and Dovie V. Sneed. She also worked at Quaker Oats as an Office Clerk, she also worked at Allied Feeds and OK Feed Mill.

Mr. & Mrs. Brannum are survived by sons, Billy Roberts of Howe and John David Roberts & wife Patty of Van Alstyne and four grandchildren & 8 Great-Grandchildren. Spurgeon is also survived by a brother, Byron Brannum & his wife Jean of Sherman. Lois is survived by a sister June Trammell & husband Jack of Van Alstyne.
