August 17, 1946 –  January 29, 2014 “Tootie” Leslie Wells, 67 year old Bells resident, passed from this life on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison. Leslie was know to all his friends as Tootie with few knowing that his name was Leslie.
Tootie was born to parents, Leslie M. Wells and Lovejoy (Cherry) Wells on August 17, 1946 at home in Bells, Texas. He was a Bells High School graduate, was an MP for the National Guard and was retired from TXU, the Valley Plant in Savoy. He and Tammy were members of the Antioch Baptist Church west of Bells.

Tootie married Nelda Jean Duncan in 1967, he then married Tammy Harris in 2006. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his first wife, Nelda. He is survived by his wife, Tammy of Bells; two sons, Mike Wells and wife Vickie of Kentucky, and Bryan Layton of Bells; one daughter, Samantha Layton-Brewer of Bells; sister, Joyce Brown and her husband Harold Ray of Bells; six grandchildren, Cade and Baylee Wells, Kailee Boik, Avery Layton, Raeley and Taylor Thompson.

Funeral services for Tootie are set for 2 P.M., Saturday, February 1, 2014 at the Mullican-Little Funeral Chapel at Bells/Savoy. The family will receive friends at the chapel prior to the service beginning at 12:30 P.M. Burial will be at Washburn Cemetery, west of Bells. Dr. Lowell Howard will officiate the service.
