Versa Mae “Jackie” Maxey, 93, of Ector, Texas passed away peacefully September 18, 2018 at Mullican Care Center in Savoy. Jackie was born January 10, 1925 in Oil City, Oklahoma to John Latham and Evealena (Davis) Latham.
Jackie worked for the state of Oklahoma Tax Commission. She served in the food service industry for many years in multiple capacities including waitress, manager, and “pool shark”. Jackie was known as a wonderful cook, second to none, with special recognition for her meringue pies. She especially loved her grandchildren, and was a self-determined lady who experienced life on her own terms. Jackie was an active member of Branch Volunteer Fire Department Auxillary. She was well loved by the residents and staff of Mullican Care Center, where she was known as “The Queen”.

She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Pendland and husband Johnney of Ector, Texas; son James Douglas Maxey and wife Kim of Wilburton, Oklahoma; granddaughters, Dana Jones and husband Andy of Princeton, Texas, Jessica Smith and Chris Barrett of Bonham, Texas, Destiny Hiatt and husband JT of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Maryann Harris of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; grandsons, Mike Pendland of Bonham, Texas, Cole Oliver and wife Patrica of Alexander, North Dakota, and Dalton Maxey and wife Annie of McAlester, Oklahoma; twenty two great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; brother Lt. Col. Bobby Latham of Tuscon, Arizona; sister Neta Fay Davis and husband Kenneth of Moore, Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Evealena Latham; son John Arthur; and Virgil Cole, the love of her life.
