Walter “Gene” Eugene Winkler, age 73, of Savoy, Texas, passed away February 23, 2018 in Bonham, Texas. He was born October 6, 1944 in Bonham to Walter Eugene Winkler, Sr. and Leta Jewell (Kincade) Winkler.
Gene loved word search puzzles and was the neighborhood “watchman, he knew everything that went on. He worked for MK Specialties for forty-five years. Gene believed in a strong work ethic and his favorite place to be was outside in the barn.
Gene was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He is survived by his loving wife Patsy (Sweet) Winkler of Savoy; his sons Travis Winkler and wife Sheryl of Ravenna, Texas and Tony Winkler and husband Scott Phillips of Ravenna; stepsons Rodney Hale and wife Roxanne of Savoy, and Bryan Hale and wife Isila of Savoy; granddaughters Brooke Bulanek and husband Josh of Bells, Texas and Danyell Winkler of Bonham, Sara Hale of Savoy, and Kynsi Guthrie of Savoy; grandsons Josh and Jordan Phillips of Ravenna, Shannon Johnson of Ravenna, T.J. Hale of Savoy, David Hale of Savoy, Tre Guthrie of Savoy, and Chris Guthrie of Savoy; great-granddaughter Kinley Sinclair of Bells; great-grandson Remington Bulanek of Bells; brother Rip Winkler and wife Debbie of Ravenna; sister Martha Weaver of Ravenna; many nieces and nephews, along with a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walt and Jewell Winkler.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at Mullican-Little Chapel, 754 Hwy 56 East, Bells, TX 75414. Officiating the service will be Dr. Billy Neal. Private Interment will follow at Ravenna Cemetery in Ravenna. The family will receive friends for visitation from 6:00-8:00 PM, Monday, February 26 at Mullican-Little Funeral Home.
