Anna Jean Melvin

Anna Jean Melvin was born to Virlon (Lazenby) and Birl Shaffer on August 25, 1937 in Denison, Texas. She graduated Denison High School in 1955. She married William (Bill) Melvin on January 18, 1957. They had three children, Susan, William (David) and John. Anna grew up on a farm and always liked riding horses from an early age. She bowled in several leagues and was also very active in her children’s school PTA functions. She loved to travel and went to many exciting places around the world with Bill and she absolutely loved her penny slots. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill Melvin; son John Melvin; and daughter-in-law, Shari Woodard Melvin. She is survived by her son, David Melvin; daughter, Susan Lawrence; son-in-law, Jeff Lawrence; daughter-in-law, Janna Melvin; grandchildren, Zachary Lawrence, Sydney Lawrence, Joshua Melvin, Jayla Melvin, and Winter J. Woodard; brother, David Shaffer; sister-in-law, Jeanne Shaffer; and niece Stephanie Richardson. A Remembrance Gathering will be held June 4, 2023, from 2-4 pm at Mullican-Little Funeral Home in Bells, Texas.
