Stephen Carl Hicks passed away November 15, 2023 at the age of 60 in Dallas, Texas. He was born to Harold and Virginia (Parker) Hicks in Palestine, Texas on November 19, 1962. Steve was a very educated man. He began his lifelong career in health care in 1985. He became a nursing home administrator, a Licensed Vocational Nurse, and then a Registered Nurse. He worked many years as a Quality Improvement/ Infection Control Certified Nurse at North Central Surgery Center in Dallas; then he began teaching students at a private nursing college facility and later worked as a State Investigator for the State of Texas. Steve was a graduate from Miss Wade’s Fashion Merchandising College, Dallas now known as Wade College. He was loved by his family, friends, colleagues, nursing students, and faculty members. Steve was preceded in death by his parents Harold Hicks and Virgina Parker-Moore; grandparents James and Verna Parker; Allie and Bessie Hicks; nephews, Jeremy Sanders, Brian Hicks and niece Amanda McDaniel. He is survived by his brother, Randy Hicks and wife Beverly of Cooper, Texas; sister, Gwen Mask of Plano; and sister, Cheryl Hughes and husband Edison of Savoy. He also leaves behind nieces, Courtney Huff and Cassidy Hughes; nephews, Josh and Colby Hicks; great nieces and nephews, Lexi, Breeanna, Brennen, Syndey, Jaden, Karsyn, Sadie, Aubrey, Jordyn, and  Adelaide; and several cousins. A memorial graveside will be held on Friday, November 24, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Fairview Cemetery in Ravenna.

  10. So sorry to hear that Stephen passed away. When my husband passed he sent a card to me expressing his sympathy. That was so nice of him to think of me. I grew up going to school with Stephen and we had a lot of fun in high school. What a great life he had and it sounds like he has helped many in nursing. Prayers for his family.
