Jean Redding

Pauline Anne Gean Stanford, affectionately known as Jean Redding, was born on May 30, 1941, in Ringgold, Oklahoma, to Robert and Birdie Mae (Pinnell) Stanford. She was the granddaughter of Robert and Eunice (Lantroop) Pinnell and Tom and Allie Stanford. Jean was one of four siblings, including Roberta, Glenda Gail, and Bobby Stanford.

After her parents separated and her father moved to California, Jean and her sister, Roberta, were raised by their grandparents, Robert and Eunice Pinnell. Jean was only two years old at the time. When she was about seven years old, her grandparents, mother, and sister moved to Broken Bow, Oklahoma, and later to Durant. Jean attended school in Durant and graduated from high school in 1960.

Jean began working during high school as a waitress and carhop, but her professional career began in Dallas, Texas.

“Someone told me once, I always thought nothing good comes out of Oklahoma but an empty Greyhound bus.” Of course, that was just one of those (not funny) Texas jokes.

In 1961, at the age of 19, she began working for Continental Trailways Bus Company. She remained with Trailways for 14 years before joining Greyhound Bus Lines as a payroll manager. Throughout her distinguished career, Jean served as payroll manager for several companies, including U.S. Brass, Samsung Telecommunications, and Miraca. She received numerous achievement awards for her outstanding performance and earned several promotions throughout the years. Her remarkable working career spanned more than five decades, from the age of 19 until she was 72.

In 1961, Jean married Joe Paddock, and together they welcomed two children, Randy and Kristi. After 24 years of marriage, they divorced.

In 1991, Jean married Joe Dickerson, and through their marriage, she was blessed with a large extended family of children, grandchildren, brothers, and sisters. Joe preceded her in death in 1998.

On December 4, 1999, Jean married Dennis Redding. Through their marriage, she was once again blessed with a new daughter, Becky, as well as another brother and many sisters whom she cherished dearly.

Jean was 65 years old when she became a grandmother, a role that brought her tremendous joy. She was definitely biased when she said Adison Mae Tipton was the most beautiful baby she ever saw. Then came Brinlee Grace Tipton, and Landry Allen Tipton. Jean often marveled at how blessed she was to have them in her life and considered them among her greatest treasures.

In November 1992, Jean accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord, beginning a deeply meaningful chapter of faith and service in her life. She attended Hebron Baptist Church, where she taught the Ladies Sunday School Class for more than 25 years. She faithfully served on numerous committees, including building fundraisers, hospitality, in-reach, out-reach, and encouragement. Jean also compiled and produced three Hebron Baptist Church cookbooks, which were used as fundraisers for the church. Through her years of service, she gained not only a church family but a true Christian family of brothers and sisters who had a lasting impact on her life. Among those who influenced Jean’s faith and life most deeply were Brother Houston and Jody Garner, who taught her about God’s love; Brother Russell Clemons; the ladies of her Sunday school class; and the many others whose lives became intertwined with hers throughout her years of faith and service.

Jean will be remembered for her devoted love of family, her strong work ethic, her generous heart, and, most importantly, her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, service, and cherished memories that will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be held Saturday, September 5, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Hebron Baptist Church, located at 655 Hebron Road, Bells, Texas 75414. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Hebron Baptist Church.
