Ray Gene Anderson, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2026, at the age of 78.
Ray was born on February 15, 1948, in Ravenna, Texas. He graduated from Irving High School in 1966 and, shortly thereafter, answered the call to serve his country. From 1968 to 1970, Ray proudly served in the United States military during the Vietnam War.
Following his military service, Ray began his career in commercial construction and home remodeling. He took pride in his work and in the ability to build, repair, and make things better. He later dedicated 25 years of service to the Athens Fire Department, where he proudly served his community before retiring.
Ray had a deep appreciation for the outdoors. He loved fishing and hunting and found some of his greatest enjoyment in spending time outside, enjoying nature, and making memories with those he loved. He was a hardworking man who valued family, service, and the simple pleasures of life.
On November 16, 1974, Ray married the love of his life, Evelyn Carol Teague. Together, they shared more than 51 years of marriage, building a life and family filled with love and memories.
Ray will be deeply missed by his wife, Evelyn Anderson; his sons, Justin Anderson, and Michael Anderson; his grandsons, Jace Anderson and Zane Anderson; his brother, Robert (Bob) Anderson; and many extended family members and friends whose lives he touched.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond L. Anderson and Imogene Price Anderson.
Ray leaves behind a legacy of love, service, hard work, and devotion to his family. His memory will live on through the family he loved, the community he served, and the many lives he touched throughout his 78 years.
He served his country. He served his community. Most of all, he loved and served his family. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
