Esther Burris was born on February 3, 1927 in Savoy, Texas, the fourth of six children, to Irvin and Faye Miller. She passed away on February 6, 2018 at Wilson N. Jones Regional Medical Center in Sherman, Texas at the age of 91.
Esther Was married to Oscar Lee Burris on May 5, 1944 in Durant, Oklahoma. The two met at her Mom’s cafe in Savoy, Texas where she worked. Esther and Oscar made their home in Savoy and did not leave until 1965. They then moved to Denison, Texas to be closer to Oscar’s work.

Esther worked as a Secretary/Bookkeeper for Burris Garage and did baby-sitting in her home. She loved to cook and was still preparing excellent meals into her 80’s. She enjoyed working in her yard raking leaves and mowing grass. In later years she could be found sitting on her patio feeding the squirrels and birds which she referred to as “God’s little creatures”.

Esther and Oscar enjoyed traveling, and made many trips to Colorado in their travel trailer viewing the beautiful scenery with family and friends.

Esther was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Denison, Texas. There she enjoyed worshiping and visiting with her church family. She was also a member of Eastern Star.

She is survived by her son, Ronnie and his wife Jackie of Denison; her granddaughters, Lisa Hasten and husband Steve of Ravenna, Stacy Key husband Jeff of Denison, Kim Bradley and husband Tony of Dallas; five great grandchildren and one great-great-grandson and several nieces and nephews.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents, Irvin and Faye Miller; her husband Oscar Lee Burris; brothers, Sam Miller and Bill Miller; sisters, Marie Horn, and Irva Faye Sandlin, and Mary Lou Springfield; and nephew Harold Keith Miller.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2018, at Mullican-Little Funeral Home in Bells, Tx. Officiating the service will be Rev. Virgil Cornwell. Burial will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery in Savoy, Tx. The family will receive friends during a visitation at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2018, before the funeral.
