Mickie Randell Lester of Bells, Texas passed away May 1, 2018 at the age of 77. He was born January 21, 1941 to John Lester and Irene (Walker) Lester in Sawyer, Oklahoma. Mickie married his wife LaRetha on June 1, 1963 in Hugo, Oklahoma and they were blessed with two children. Mickie proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Staff Sargent and Sharpshooter. He owned Lester’s Paint and Body Shop in Bells, Texas for 20 years, Lester’s Texaco Service Station for 5 years, and was a truck driver, driving “El Flamo” for many years. Mickie was a Master Mason for 35 years and received the Golden Trowel award. He also loved to hunt, fish and he conducted many fish fry benefit suppers. Mickie loved to go to all the ball games for his children and grandchildren, once both he and Michelle were ejected from the same basketball game when she was in High school. Mickie was known for his generosity to the youth community.
He is survived by his wife LaRetha Lester of Bells, Texas; son Mickie Lee Lester and wife Mitzi of Whitesboro, Texas; daughter Michelle Carney and husband Robby of Howe, Texas; granddaughter Courtney Lester of Dallas, Texas; granddaughter Morgan Carney of Howe, Texas; grandson Ryan Carney of Howe, Texas; granddaughter Jessi Lester of Whitesboro, Texas; granddaughter Kenlee Lester of Whitesboro, Texas; sister Shirley Wilson and husband Tony of Van Alstyne, Texas; brother Johnny Lester of Van Alstyne, Texas; sister-in-law Barbara Lester; several nephews, nieces and extended family members, friends from business, and many brother Masons.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Irene Lester, and brothers, JW and Hollis Lester.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 4, 2018 at Hebron Baptist Church in Bells, Texas. Masonic services will also be conducted at the church.The family will receive friends during a visitation on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Mullican Little Funeral Home in Bells, Texas.
