Carlene Proctor Miller passed away peacefully at home in Ennis, Texas at the age of 91. She was born to Carl and Fay (Pepper) Powell in Junction City, Arkansas on February 23, 1931. After the death of her parents, she was raised by her grandmother, Zora Powell.
Following World War II, she met Daniel B. Proctor and they were married on May 2, 1950. In the early days of their marriage, Dan’s job with a surveying team took them across the nation. Eventually, the family settled in Duncanville, Texas.
Carla fully lived life and it was said that she lived until she died. This mother of seven children was feisty, sassy and described as “a pistol”. There was no doubt that her favorite color was red. She loved to dance and had a passion for classic country music. She found travel to be an education unto itself. Carla loved to travel and if someone was going, she wanted to go, too. She loved the beach often taking her family to Galveston. In her golden years, she even parasailed in St. Thomas! She found New England to be beautifully scenic. Carla embodied virtues of hardwork, honesty, and caring to her children. She taught them by example.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Fay Powell, husband, Daniel B. Proctor, Sr., husband, Robert Miller; son, Kenneth A. Proctor; grandson, Richard Anguiano III.
She is survived by her son, Daniel B. Proctor, Jr.; daughters, Cathy D. Long, Cynthia I. Gilman, Angelia K. Christian, Ronda L. Petersdorf, Sonda D. Smith; grandchildren, Brandylyn N. Proctor, Daniel B Proctor III and wife Jessica, Samuel N. Proctor, Traci D. Greer and husband Ronnie, Michael J. Long, Jr., Madelyn K. Crittenden and husband Jordan, Benjamin C. Gilman, Zackary B.
