Gayle Gene Johnson of Bells, Texas passed away peacefully on April 16, 2025 in Sherman, Texas at the age of 83. Gayle was born to Jetman Alert and Coral L. (Paulson) Johnson on May 5, 1941 in Chickasaw County, Iowa.
Gayle joined the US Air Force in 1960, as an OPS specialist. After his military service he embarked on a 25 plus years career in manufacturing as a very skilled Steel Rule Dye Maker. More importantly he loved his family and has been said of him he loved with his whole heart. He married Raylene (Martin) on March 30, 1963 and together they had three children. He loved to fish and was a gifted wood worker. Gayle was a “cool, calm, and collected” person.
Gayle was preceded in death by his wife, Raylene Johnson; son, Richard G. Johnson; daughter, Karen L. Vinson; parents, Alert and Coral Johnson.
He is survived by his son, Ronald R. Johnson and wife Rachell of Duncan, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren, Jessica Miller and husband David of Wisconsin, Richard “Richie” Johnson and wife Pam of Charles City, Iowa, Whitney Glatt and husband Taylor of Bells, Thomas Vinson of Bells, Laura De’Leon and husband Juan of Burleson, Texas, A.J. Johnson of Sherman, Alexis Johnson of Duncan, Dakota Johnson of Whitewright, Texas, Summer Johnson of Duncan; nine great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren, Daisy Raylene and Kingston James “KJ”; brothers, Jerome Johnson and wife Carol, David Johnson; daughter in law, Debra Johnson of Iowa; beloved dog Blossom.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home 415 W. Main Street Marlow, Oklahoma 73055. Funeral Services will be on Friday, April 25, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Marlow Cemetery at 905 N. Ash Street Marlow, Oklahoma 73055.

I love you and miss you so much grandpa. You were the main piece to our puzzle and it’s going to be hard to put the puzzle back together without you but I promise I will continue to be here and support and protect this family by any means. I will complete this puzzle and one day I will see you again in heaven.
