Mary Jane Godwin, born on March 25, 1943, to Calhoun and Effie Bowman, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2026 at the age of 83 in Honey Grove, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and devotion to her family and community.

One of nine children, Mary Jane was shaped by the strength and closeness of a large family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Hollis B. Godwin, with whom she shared 45 devoted years of marriage.

She is survived by her loving daughter, as well as four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, all of whom were a constant source of pride and joy in her life. She is also survived by two siblings.

Mary Jane dedicated 21 years of service to the Water & Soil Conservation, where her commitment and work ethic left a lasting impression.

Her faith and love for her church were central to her life. She found great joy in giving back—crocheting blankets and hats for the homeless and contributing her time and talents to support her church community. She also had a deep appreciation for old band music, which brought her comfort and happiness.

Mary Jane will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and the quiet strength she carried throughout her life. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched.
