Rebecca Jane Watkins

rebecca watkins

August 22, 1955 ~ October 10, 2022

Rebecca Jane Watkins passed away October 10, 2022 in Denison at the age of 67. She was born in Sherman to L.A. “Chuck” and Mildred Watkins. She often said she was “the other child”; in fact, she was the fourth born of five children. Rebecca grew up in Whitewright in a happy and healthy home. Rebecca worked for many years for Cigna and later as a in home care giver. But her greatest passion was her family. She was hard headed, opinionated but fair, loving, and generous. It was not necessary to guess about how she felt about something, she was plain spoken and straight forward. Rebecca was a devoted and caring mother; her pride and joy were her children. She once fed Ryan’s entire baseball team by cooking a big bag of hamburgers for their road trip. She had a big heart and was willing to help anyone in need. Rebecca loved her dogs, especially Duchess. She was widely respected and greatly loved. Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents, Chuck and Mildred Watkins; and sister, Roxanne Johnson. She is survived by her sons, Ryan Vick, and Chad Vick, daughter, Shelly Burdick and husband Bruce; grandchildren, Keaton Mudgett and Jordan Mudgett; siblings, Lillis Martin, Chuckie Watkins and Kimberly Watkins; aunt, Sharon Fleming and husband Larry; along with many nephews and nieces and extended family. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, October 23, 2022 at 12:30 PM at the Whitewright Visitor Center 111 West Grand Street Whitewright, Texas.
