Ava May Freeman Cunningham was born October 24, 1935 in Ambrose, Texas to Patric Oliver Freeman and Doris Elizabeth Meadows Freeman. She married Elton Ray Cunningham on April 17, 1953 in Ambrose, Texas. She passed away on May 25, 2019 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas. Ava was a long time employee of Levi-Strauss in Denison and was a member of the Ambrose Baptist Church. She loved to sing. She dearly loved her family and loved to tell stories of her family. She was loved and will be greatly missed. Ava is survived by her son, John Ray Cunningham of Ambrose; daughter, Emma Cunningham Woodell of Calera, Oklahoma; daughter, Wilma Ray Garrett of Athens, Alabama; grandchildren, Sammy and Samantha Woodell, Ray and Jonathan Cunningham and Alicia Cunningham Dobbs; great-grandchildren, Patrick and Elijah Woodell, Kenzie, Bentley, and Katie Dobbs, Ethan and Emma Cunningham, Abbott and Barrett Cunningham. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Funeral Services will be held 11AM Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at Mullican-Little Chapel, Bells, Texas . Brother Robert Mitschke will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Hebron Cemetery, Bells, Texas. Pallbearers will be Ray Cunningham, Jonathan Cunningham, Thomas Whitlock, Ronny Auldridge, Joe Montgomery and Edan VanZetten. Honorary Pallbearer will be Roger Auldridge. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 from 6-8PM at Mullican-Little Chapel, Bells, Texas.
