December 5, 1941 ~ February 2, 2026

Betty Jane (Haliburton) Fleming passed away on February 2, 2026 in Sherman, Texas at the age of 84. She was born to C.C. and Pearl (Crews) Haliburton on December 5, 1941 in Pink Hill, Texas. Betty and Charley’s first date was a hay ride at the age of 13 and what a ride it has been. They were married on July 3, 1968 in Sierra Blanca, Texas. She followed Charley all over the State of Texas to his duty stations. Betty graduated from Bells ISD as an athlete and scholar, as well as East Texas State University (A&M, Commerce) with her degree in Education. She took great pride teaching her students who say she is their favorite teacher, gave the best hugs, and loved her smile. Betty was a beloved and dedicated teacher for over 30 years in Sierra Blanca, El Paso, Pasadena, Mesquite, finally retiring from Bells ISD. She loved to read, learn, travel with her friends and family, and crafting. Spent years advocating and supporting civil rights and animal advocacy. She is lovingly known as Jam, Momma, Jams, Grandma, Momma, Mother, Flossy Mae, Bet, BJ, and Betty Jane. She treated all children as if they were her own and taught them what it meant to be in a loving, blended family. She adored and loved each grandchild equally and uniquely as if they were the only grandchild. Aunt Betty loved her nieces and nephews with the same passion and vigor. She was the glue of our family and she will be missed by all who love her. She was preceded in death by her parents, C.C and Pearl Haliburton; brother, Don Haliburton; daughter, Julia Parker. Betty is survived by her husband, Charley Fleming; daughter, Janis Fleming-Square; son, Jeff Fleming and wife Rachel; grandchildren, Shane Boyd, Krystal Dodson, Jacob Travis, Joseph Square, Jillian Square, Elizabeth Corbello and husband Ryan; great grandchildren, Nathan, Benjamin, Victoria, and Emily Corbello; son in laws, James Square and Roy Parker.
