Samuel Jefferson “Jeff” McGehee, 85, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026, at Texoma Medical Center in Bonham after a courageous battle with cancer. Jeff was born on September 21, 1940, in Ambrose, Texas, to William and Irene McGehee. On June 28, 1958, he married Yvonne Moore.
Jeff was a loving husband, daddy, grandad, great-grandad, brother, son, uncle, and brother-in-law. He treasured time spent with his family and especially enjoyed working on his farm. He loved singing country and gospel music and was happiest when surrounded by those he loved.
A faithful member of Hebron Baptist Church, Jeff taught Sunday School for 25 years and served as a deacon for 30 years. He was known as a man with a servant’s heart who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Through his strong work ethic and unwavering values, he raised his children with respect, integrity, and a love for family.
Jeff was preceded in death by his parents William and Irene McGehee, his wife, Yvonne McGehee; his sons, Phillip Gregory McGehee and Phillip Lee McGehee; and his sister, Ruby Haddox.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Wadlow-McGehee; his son, Jeffery McGehee and wife Toni; his daughter, Tanya Bailey and husband Guy; his daughter in law, Lili McGehee; bonus sons, Jimmy and Marty Wadlow; his brother, Clint McGehee; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Jeff’s legacy continues through his grandkids: Brice and Jenna McGehee, J.C. and Brooke Hensley, Bailey McGehee, Heather Bryant, Devin and Tera Bailey, Gunnar McGehee and fiancée Josi Neu, and Jocelyn Blanton. He was also blessed with ten great-grandchildren.
Jeff will be remembered for his deep faith, his love for his family, his generous spirit, and his willingness to help anyone in need. His kindness, wisdom, and quiet strength will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026 at 10:00 AM at Hebron Baptist Church 655 Hebron Rd. Bells, Texas 75414. Burial to follow at Hebron Cemetery.

Ephesians 2: 8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of your selves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast. When he talked about his salvation this is the verse he would quote. He quoted it often. I am one of Jeff’s nephews. I went to work for him at age 14 and was blessed to work for him until I was 25 years old. I would spend hours bouncing down the road listening to his stories, him talking about the Bible and Jesus. I would ask him a question he would tell me what I needed to read in the bible to answer my questions. He told me about the first time he saw my aunt Yvonne, he saw her at a basketball game, he said she was the prettiest thing he had ever seen, he said he was in love immediately. He loved his family. We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Jeff. To the family we are sending our prayers for comfort during this difficult time. I always enjoyed visiting with him. Big hugs to you all.

Jeff was a fine man and always had a kind word. I first met Jeff in the 70’s at a Stop N Go store that I managed.
He was a hard worker and was always friendly with a smile. Jeff set an example that all should follow in their daily lives. We are so sorry for the families loss. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him. Always cherish the memories. We pray that God gives you comfort and peace.
What a sweet Godly man Jeff was. I loved to hear him sing “Tears will never stain the streets of that city, no wreath of death on my mansion door”. No doubt he is now living those words and seeing his sweet Yvonne. My thoughts and prayers are with the McGeHee family. Love you!
