Mr. Troyce Lee Walt Sr.

Troyce Lee “T.L.” Walt Sr., 90, of Bells, Texas, passed away on July 6, 2026, while in the loving care of Just Like Home Assisted Living in Whitesboro, Texas. It is still up for debate whether Kimberly or Nikki was his favorite. Cause of death was simply that he was “just wore out.”

T.L. was born on August 31, 1935, somewhere between Savoy and Whitewright, Texas, to Raymond Earnest Walt and Orpha Velma Blanton Walt. After attending school in Savoy, he went to work for Haliburton driving an oil field truck. In 1959, he began driving over the road for Southwest Wheel, where his dedication and work ethic eventually earned him a promotion to Fleet Superintendent. Always dreaming big and determined to become a millionaire, T.L. borrowed one million dollars and opened T.L. Walt Trucking and Service Center in Bells. Alongside his beloved wife, Pat, he built a successful trucking and auto repair business that served the community for more than 20 years. Following retirement, T.L. continued serving others by founding the food pantry at Bells Methodist Church. Through this ministry, he faithfully helped the Bells and Savoy communities for more than two decades.

T.L. had a lifelong love of horses, mules, and donkeys, even though a mule nearly took his ear off when it dragged him under a clothesline. At just 15 years old, he suffered a crushed leg after a horse fell on him during a rainstorm, an accident that left him in a cast for 12 months and nearly cost him his leg. His love for horses never faded, and he made sure each of his children learned how to ride. In his later years, he developed a special fondness for spotted donkeys, keeping several in the front pasture outside his home where he could enjoy watching them from his front porch. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to his friend and neighbor, Charlie Powell, for faithfully helping care for T.L.’s donkeys when he no longer could.

T.L. is survived by his daughters, Sherry Fallon and husband Jimmy of Sherman; Becky Conkright and husband Chuck of Owensboro, Kentucky; son, Lee Walt and wife Lesa of Luella. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Loni Fralicks, Joshua Poormohammadi, Dana Reynolds, Jared Doyle, Matthew Walt, Will Conkright, Nick Conkright, Derek Rogers, and Johnathan Rogers, along with numerous great-grandchildren; siblings, Earnest Walt and wife Pam, Eddie Walt and wife Carol, Ruth Ann Carlisle and husband Charles.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Orpha Walt; his sister, Doris Lansford; his beloved wife, Patricia Walt; daughter, Peggy Walt; son, Johnny Rogers; and his great-grandson, Oaklee Rogers.

T.L. will be remembered as a hardworking businessman, a generous servant to his community, and a man whose determination, humor, and love for family and animals left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. His legacy lives on through the family he cherished and the countless lives he touched throughout the Bells and Savoy communities.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff and nurses at Just Like Home Nursing Home and Centric Hospice for the exceptional care, kindness, love, and friendship they provided during his time there. Their dedication and support brought comfort not only to him but also to his family, and they will always be deeply appreciated.
