Clyde Don Garner of Bells passed peacefully on February 8, 2022 at the age of 90. He was born on March 28, 1931 in Ambrose, Texas to Bud and Nettie Garner. He proudly served his country in Korea before coming home to marry the love of his life, Hazel Barron on September 4, 1954 in Durant, Oklahoma. His face was filled with joy by her mere presence, even in his final days.
Clyde embodied all of the fruits of the spirit and was known by all as being a man of honesty and integrity, always willing to help anyone at any time. He was one of the hardest working men around and could outwork men half his age, even into his seventies. He loved to tell stories of loading his dump truck by hand at the river and working at the dairy at a young age. He never met a stranger and made many friends over his years of working at Gladiola, Coca-Cola and Carroll’s Used Cars. His favorite days were those spent with his buddies fishing on Blue River and any day spent talking about or working on cars.
Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Dorothy Mae Moss, Weldon Garner, Helen Jaco and Alton Garner.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Hazel Garner; children, Donna (Doug) Lamb, Susie (Gary) Key, Mike (Amanda) Garner and Jeff (Amy) Garner; grandchildren, Brandon (Brandi) Lamb, Chad (Jenifer) Lamb, Cameron (Angela) Key, Vanessa (Jeff) Peace, Lindsey Garner, Barron Garner, Audrey Garner and Gavin Garner; and 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, Floyd and Boyd Garner; and a large extended family that thought the world of him.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 13, 2022 from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at Mullican Little Funeral Home 754 State Hwy 56 E. Bells, Texas 75414. Funeral Service will be Sunday, February 13, 2022 at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Bells. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Korean War Veterans Memorial Foundation.
