William (Bill) Pierce Bibby was called home to be with the Lord on April 5, 2024. He was born on January 26, 1934 in Savoy, Texas to Bartley Pierce Bibby and Mabel Theo Massey Bibby. Bill graduated from Savoy High School in 1952 and attended North Texas State University on a basketball scholarship. He was employed by Texas Power & Light Co. (TXU) for 39 years starting as a meter reader in Denison, Texas, quickly advancing to management positions in Waco, Killeen, Gainesville, Bonham, and McKinney. He was involved in numerous philanthropic, civic, and community service organizations. Faith in his Lord was a priority, serving as a deacon at First Baptist Churches in Gainesville and Savoy.

He retired in 1992 and moved to the family farm in Savoy where he remained  active training quarter horses, raising cattle, goats, sheep and other animals. He was known for his quick wit, infectious smile, and kind and compassionate spirit. He traveled many miles attending his grandchildren’s various activities. Love for his family was his passion.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Bartley Pierce Bibby and Mabel Theo Massey Bibby; sisters, Betty Jo Dodson, Cecil Inez Bomar; and nephew, James Edgar Dodson. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, JoAnn Speed Bibby; son, David Judson Bibby (Rebecca) Tyler, Texas; daughter, Patricia Elaine Lillard (Bruce) Savoy, Texas; grandchildren, Judson Brown Bibby (Kassie), Lauren Elizabeth Bibby Grygar (Chase), and James Pierce Williams; five great grandchildren, William Anthony Grygar, Elizabeth Anne Grygar, Hannah Claire Bibby, Rebecca Elise Bibby, Pierce Matthew Williams; and numerous nephews, nieces, and friends.

Pallbearers will be Judson Bibby, James Williams, Chase Grygar, Mike Bomar, Jimmy Speed, and Cody Maxwell. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Sessom, Larry Blain, Phillip Wilhelm, Roy Lee Thomas, and Till Melugin.

Visitation is Monday April 8, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Mullican Little Funeral Home in Bells. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at 2:00 PM with Ricky Maxwell and Cody Maxwell officiating. Interment will be at the Little Jordan Cemetery, Savoy, Texas.

The family wishes to thank Home Hospice of Grayson, Cooke, and Fannin Counties (a non-profit organization) for their  compassion and care. Especially Tim, Megan, Mike, Paul, April, Christy, and Rachel.

For those interested, the family suggests donations to the Little Jordan Cemetery Association, a non profit Texas Historical Cemetery established by Bill’s great grandfather Sidney Hiram Pierce, Home Hospice of Grayson, Cooke, and Fannin Counties, or the charity of your choice.
