Alice “Ruth” (Wade) Woodson was born on May 23, 1941 to Willie and Clara (Brock) Wade in Longview Texas. She was one of nine children born to this family and she was raised in Arkansas.

Ruth met her husband Chester Woodson on a blind date that was set up by her friend and his younger sister, Nadine Woodson. They were married on July 1, 1963. Ruth and Chester were blessed with six children.

She was a stubborn and loving mother and grandmother. There were consequences if her rules were broken, she was strict but fair. Ruth was even known to spoil her grandchildren by preparing potato salad without onions. She also was a good every-day cook who took care of her family with nutritious meals. Ruth was noted for her outstanding banana pudding and chocolate pies. Her main focus was as a homemaker but she did work as a nurses’ aide for various nursing care facilities.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Clara Wade; husband, Chester Ray Woodson; daughters, Sissy Gibson and husband Clifford, Deborah Green, Barbara Hoket; siblings, Oscar Wade, Betty Hilton, Jim Wade, Howard Wade, Red Wade, Iola Richardson, and Bobby Joe Wade.

She is survived by her son, Steven Agee and wife Pam; daughters, Mary Jane Smitherman, and Connie Woodson; sister, Vergie Kimberlin; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Clifford Gibson, Micah Gibson, Oscar Goodman, Buster Barker, Darrell Woodson.

Graveside services will be held Friday January 28, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Cedar Cemetery in Luella.
