June 29, 1923 –  August 23, 2012 Alma “Jody” Garner, 89, who made her home in Whitewright, was welcomed into her heavenly home on Thursday, August 23, 2012. Jody was born to Homer and Ruby Sanderson in Desert, Texas, June 29, 1923. She graduated from Whitewright High School in 1941. On April 26, 1946 she married her best friend Houston Garner in Orangeville, Texas. Together they shared 66 years of love, their family, faith and happy memories. She was a homemaker, loving wife, mother and memaw. It has been said that “she was a walking sermon instead of a talking one”.
Jody was preceded in death by her daughter, Rita Garner; parents; and brother, J.W. Sanderson.

Jody is survived by her husband, Houston Garner, pastor of the Hebron Baptist Church in Bells; son, Larry Garner; daughter, Vickie Cherry; Grandchildren: Mindy Garner, Steven Garner and wife Suzie, Rita Fulmer and husband Ty, Lori Sanders and husband Jeff, Kayla Murphy and husband Scott, and Renee Christian; Great Grandchildren: Nylan Smith, Hayden Fulmer, Hannah Fulmer, Eli Fulmer, Aubrey Tharpe, Zane Rider, Seth Swaim and Shae Swaim; her church family and a host of friends.

Family visitation will be from 6-8 P.M. Saturday, August 25, 2012 at the Friendship Center at the Hebron Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, August 26, 2012 at Hebron Baptist Church in Bells, conducted by John Arnold and James Seigler.

Jody leaves with all who knew her nothing but precious memories.
