November 24, 1910 –  December 27, 2011 Alta was the daughter of John and Laura Cecil Kidd. She married William Caleb Thornhill on January 23, 1926 in Whitewright. Alta was a member of Kentuckytown Baptist Church and worked hard all her life as a homemaker and nurses’ aide. She loved to garden, cook and travel. Most of all she loved her family. She is survived by her son Gene Thornhill and his wife Paula. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 brother, 3 sisters and daughters Peggye Woodson and Charlene Neathery.
