November 24, 1933 –  January 19, 2016 Audrey Lynn (Bass) Walters, age 82, passed away at TMC, Denison on January 19, 2016 with her family by her side. Audrey was born in Desert, Texas on November 24, 1933 to Orville Sion Bass and Virgie Mae Cunningham Bass. One of seven children, Audrey grew up on a farm, attended elementary school in Randolph, Texas and graduated from Whitewright High School. She married Dan Douglas Walters on February 11, 1956. They lived their entire married life and raised their family in Sherman, Texas. Dan preceded her in death in 1991.
She raised her family and then began a career with Sherman ISD in food service at Sherman High School. She served as cafeteria manager at Crutchfield and Jefferson Elementary schools. After retirement, she especially enjoyed meeting customers, preparing sales and working the pay table at Walters and Company estate sales. She loved to cook and was known for her chicken spaghetti and peach cobblers. She looked forward to yearly family trips to Colorado and enjoyed a good game of cards with her grandsons. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Sherman and especially enjoyed her Sunday School class and Triple LLL club meetings.
Audrey was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dan; infant son, Jerry Lynn; and brother Alvin. She is survived by son, Doug Walters; daughter, Cindy Carlisle (Keith); two grandsons, Zachary Carlisle and Matthew Carlisle. She is also survived by brothers Otis Bass of Bells, Texas, Gene Bass of Carrollton, Texas, and Clifton Bass of Fort Worth, Texas; by sisters, Lovera Turner of Whitewright, Texas and Nola Chennault of Leonard, Texas and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services are set for 3:00 P.M., Saturday, January 23, 2016, at the First Baptist Church, Sherman, Texas with Dr. Mike Lawson officiating. Interment is at Oak Hill Cemetery in Whitewright, Texas. Memorials may be made to the Triple LLL Club of First Baptist Church, North Texas Youth Connection-shelter for homeless youth, Grand Central Station –soup kitchen, or the charity of the donor’s choice.
A family visitation will be from 6-8 P.M., Friday, January 22, 2016 at the First Baptist Church, Sherman.
