“Our ray of sunshine, Brooke Staley, age 8, was called home to Jesus on August 27, 2017 surrounded by her family. Brooke was born on December 30, 2008 in Sherman, Texas. Brooke, AKA Brookie-Cookie loved swimming, baking, fashion, camping and fishing, playing with her friends and riding her horse, Bob. She couldn’t wait to see all her friends going into third grade at Savoy Elementary. Though Brooke faced many trials in her short life, she always beat the odds and never missed a step. She was a fighter and gave strength to those who surrounded her. She was an inspiring, courageous, vibrant, caring, and magical little girl who never met a stranger. She touched so many lives in such a short time and was special to everyone that knew her. She taught us the true meaning of God’s grace, how to love unconditionally, and could soften the hardest of hearts. She was a special gift to this world and we will miss her silly wit and contagious laughter. Brooke is survived by her beloved family; Mother, Donelle Staley and step-dad, Johnny White; Father, Jay Staley and step-mother, Barbara; brother, Mason Staley; Grandparents, David and Kathy Fogg; Lois White (Memaw); Brenda Martin; Mike Staley; Stewart and Becky Weldon. The family would like to give a special thank-you to Sherman Rehab, Children’s Medical Center of Dallas and especially Savoy ISD for going above and beyond by accepting her into their school and providing her with the special care, love and support she needed.
A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, September 2, 2017, at the Savoy Elementary Gym with Mr. Mike Catching officiating. No family night is scheduled, however, viewing is available at Mullican-Little Funeral Home in Bells/Savoy from Thursday afternoon, August 31 thru Friday afternoon, September 1, 2017. The family asks that donations be made to Ronald McDonald’s House of Children’s Hospital in lieu of flowers.
