David Lynn Hensley, age 68, of Sherman, Texas passed away on Monday May 15, 2023, surrounded by family and friends. David was born to Delbert and Minnia (Monk) Hensley on January 26, 1955, in Fort Worth, Texas.
After graduating from Bells High School, he joined the United States Navy as a Boiler Technician. David retired after 20 years of honorable service as a Petty Officer First Class. After his Navy retirement, he spent the next 20 years working as a machinist. He always loved working with his hands and later in life, you could not keep him off his lawn mower.
David was always a hard worker in both his pre- and post-retirement life. He never settled for less the maximum effort, and he did his best to not let anyone around him do so either. Though he was not always vocal about it; he loved just as hard as he worked. We know he is walking with the Lord now and for those of us who have also accepted Christ, we will one day be marching next to him again.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Delbert and Minnia Hensley; sister, Carol Shearin.
He is survived by his wife, Joann (Rachel) Hensley of Sherman Texas; stepdaughter, Rena Dunahoo and husband Nick of Belton, Texas; sons, Larry Hensley and wife Kinchata of Marietta, Oklahoma, Charles Hensley of Sherman, Texas, David Hensley and wife Nondas of Bells, Texas, and Beau Hensley and wife Ericka of Ray City, Georgia; 13 grandchildren; Addison and Emery Dunahoo, Shelby Dewett and Ashley Hensley, Dawson, Alyssa, Raelynn, Landon, KimbrelyAnn, and Dayva Hensley, Sylee, Rachel and Jaxson Hensley; sisters, Janice Whitworth, Debbie Roesler and husband Tom, Gayle Hall and husband David, Rhonda Hindsley and husband Eddie; also survived by dear friends Karen and Leroy Morrow, and Roxie and Ricky Wilson.
If you would like to pay your respects, Family Night will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2023 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Mullican-Little Funeral Home 754 State Hwy 56 E. Bells Texas 75414. Rest in Peace David Lynn Hensley..!
Home now from your pains and sorrows…!
We will miss you and your funny jokes..!
Rest In Peace David, At Times Like This I Go back And Think Of The Times We Spent Together, Rabbit Hunting there in Bells and all the times later…you will be missed my Cuz and Friend….Walk Slowly For I May not Be Far Behind…
The world is now a lesser place. We will miss you until that day when Jesus calls us home or comes to receive us unto Himself. After that, never again. See you soon, my friend. BHS Class of ’73!
David Lynn I’ll never forget the time you, me. Carol, and Kathy were joking around outside giving y’all a bad time about them white shoes you loved. And how we talked about being squares and loving square dancing. I haven’t had the pleasure to square dance over the years much but when I did I thought about that evening cutting up about us being squares. Much love ❤️ Rest in Jesus’s paradise with all the other squares. Your cousin, Mary
