Deloras Jean Galyon Weatherman passed away peacefully on October 10, 2020 in Sherman, Texas. Deloras was born as the only child of Floyd and Hazel Galyon in Bells, Texas on May 19, 1935. She was raised in Savoy by her dad, Jack Hawkins and mother Hazel. She graduated from Savoy Schools.
Bunky as she was known to many, married Frank Weatherman on July 19, 1967 in Santa Barbara, California. His civil service career took them to many places across the United States. They settled in Ector after Frank’s retirement.
Bunky was an avid reader, especially enjoyed romance novels. She was also a ’puzzler” and nearly always had a puzzle on her table to be worked. No one was a bigger fan of the Texas Rangers then she was.
Bunky was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd Galyon and Hazel Hawkins; and dad Jack Hawkins.
She is survived by her son, Joe Gilbert and wife Debbie of Savoy, Texas; granddaughter, Kerri Jo Allen of Savoy, Texas; great-grandsons, Tristan Allen and wife Eryn of Texas City, Texas, Tanner Allen of Savoy, Texas; great granddaughter, Taylor Allen of Savoy, Texas; great great granddaughter Brynn Allen of Texas City, Texas; brother, Billy Edward Galyon of Sherman.
A special word of “Thanks” to her church family, First Baptist Church of Savoy, who loved and cared for Frank and her, helping them in so many ways.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Little Jordan Cemetery in Savoy, Texas. Bro. Bill Sessom and Pastor Chris Merritt of First Baptist Church, Savoy will lead the service. Pall bearers will be Tristan Allen, Tanner Allen, Taylor Allen, Tyler Halter, Paul Howland, and Danny Walsh.
So sorry for your loss, prayers and God Bless!
Prayers for Joe and Debbie Gilbert and whole family. May you be comforted by all the sweet memories with your loved one.
I first met Bunky (to know who she was) the summer of 2003 when she helped with a garage sale that was a fundraiser for a mission trip. She was then at church every Sunday and Wednesday faithfully til injuries snd other health issues prevented. She always had a smile and a pleasant greeting. She will definitely be missed. ❤ ❤ Thank you, LORD, for our paths crossing.
Thoughts and prayers very sweet lady she will be miss by all
