Doyle Wayne Price passed away peacefully on January 16, 2023 at the VA Nursing Home in Bonham after a lengthy illness at the age of 86. He was attended with loving, caring hearts and hands by the staff and nurses at the VA.
He was born at home in Ravenna, Texas to Frank Price and Edna (Johnson) Price on February 1, 1936 as the youngest child of four children.
He married Earlene Burris on April 14, 1961 in Paris, Texas and they made their home in Savoy. Doyle’s career was as a Police Officer and a security officer. He was an outdoorsman who thoroughly loved fishing, and taught his grandson Jake how to fish. Doyle also enjoyed tinkering on engines such as boats, automobile and lawn mower motors. This mechanical ability turned into a side job as word of mouth spread that he could fix anything.
He was a hard working family man who loved his wife, children and grandchildren, and later his great grandchildren. Doyle had a distinctive laugh that everyone recognized, when you heard it you knew instantly it was him. He really enjoyed dogs and there was always a dog in the house. In retirement, he was regularly seen at the “learning center” where he gathered with other men to overhaul the universe and solve the problems of the world.
Doyle was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Edna Price; brothers, Lee Price and Vernon Price; sister, Imogene Anderson; brother in laws, Edward Burris and Jerry Hope; in laws, James and Wyona Burris.
He is survived by his wife Earlene Price; son, Andy Hartline and wife Tammy; daughter, Sandy Cheek and husband Sam; granddaughters, Andrea Van Horn, Peyton Folks, Presley Cheek; grandsons, Jake Hartline and Noah Cheek; nieces, Tammy Snow, Suzanne Hope, Deanne Clark; nephew, Eddie Burris; sister-in-law, Donna Hope; great granddaughters, Jalen Hartline, Makenna Hartline; and great grandson, Easton Hartline.
