Erma Jean Floyd

August 23, 1931 - February 23, 2022

Erma Jean (Armstrong) Floyd departed this life on February 23, 2022 at her home surrounded by her children. She was born on August 23, 1931 to Walter and Pearl (Pilgrim) Armstrong in Denison, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Pearl; her husband of 63 years Charles E. Floyd; sister, Doris Colson and husband Don; son in laws, Joe Medlin and Jim Manning; and many beloved aunts, uncles, brothers, and sister in laws, they look at each other as real siblings and had many years of happy family life.

She is survived by five children, Brenda Medlin, David Floyd and wife Kathleen, Debra Burgess, Tom Floyd and wife Laura, Danny Floyd and with Annette; 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchild, 11 great great grandchildren.

She was the epitome of motherhood, always cooking, caring and loving all who came into her life. Thanksgiving was always a feast that drew the whole family together. A tradition she carried on well into her 80’s.

She worked hard, asked for little her entire life. The example she set is what all mothers strive for and too few can achieve. All who knew her found unconditional love and acceptance in her. Those of us left behind are forever grateful she was ours. We love you momma.

    I know you’re in a better place but you were my second mother and I miss you very much. I know we will all carry on but we will have a missing part the rest with the all of the other angels love you Mom David and Kathy

    Your acceptance was such a gift. Our long talks, hair cuts and your perm sessions will always bring a smile to my heart. I told you once that I blame you for all that your son is, and I will be grateful for the rest of my life. Tom is so like you. I loved you, miss you, and will cherish our mother-daughter time till we meet again. Now you’re free.

    Aunt Erma, your love and hospitality was always such a given. Spending time with you as a child was one of my best memories. You had great stories and I loved the tips you gave me for my gardens. Spending time with you all at Circle C was such a part of my growing up. My siblings and I always felt like we belonged.
    I loved you so very much.
