Florence Imogene (Lemmons) Smith passed away peacefully in her home on August 21, 2024 in Denison, Texas. She was born on March 6, 1929 in Denison, Texas to Leland and Ida (McCuan) Lemmons. She was next to the youngest of five children. She met her husband, Bailey Smith while they were in Denison high school, and they married after his service in the Navy, following World War II.

Florence was a beloved mother to Cathy and Debbie, Granny to John and Tony McGuire and Michael Prestwood. Great mother to Rachael McGuire. She was Aunt “Genie” to numerous nieces and nephews. She dearly loved them all.

Florence was an experienced Bookkeeper, who loved numbers and organization; her first job out of high school was with Lamar Creamery in Paris, Texas. She was a stern, strict disciplinarian but fair and loving. Her home was cluttered, yet welcoming. People felt at home around her and enjoyed her company and sense of humor.

She was preceded in death by parents, Leland and Ida Lemmons; grandsons, Anthony McGuire, John McGuire, Michael Prestwood; son in laws, Mickey McGuire and Albert James McLean.

She is survived by her daughters, Cathy McGuire of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Debbie McLean of Denison.

There will not be any services. Cremation arrangements under care of Mullican Little Funeral Home Bells, Texas.
