Frances Adela (Strother) Snider Collins passed away on September 20, 2024 at age 91 in Denison, Texas. She was born on December 22, 1933 in Arkadelphia, Arkansas to Allen and Rachael (Francis) Strother. She was the only girl in their family of four sons.

Frances married Wesley Snider on February 22, 1952. He was a farm team star baseball pitcher, and she was a professional jazz pianist. They started their family right away. She completed high school in Marvel, Arkansas and went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Education from Phillips College. After Wesley’s death in January 1976, Frances went back to earn her L.P.N at Phillips College in Helena, Arkansas. Later she earned her Bachelor of Science degree at Arkansas Tech University and then continued with post graduate hours.

She was a preschool teacher and director of Head Start program in Marvel. In November of 1981 she married Edward Collins, and they made their home in Atkins, Arkansas. She was a superb musician playing professional jazz piano. She also played for churches and funerals. She was a friend and counselor to so many across the years. She was a determined lady with a wonderful sense of humor, quick wit, and engaging laugh. Frances lived a full and adventurous life, filled with laughter and love for family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Snider; parents, Allen and Rachael Strother; sons, Lyle Snider and Allen Snider; husband, Edward Collins; brothers, James Strother, Clarence Strother, Dale Strother, Jennings Strother.

She is survived by her daughter, Camille Snider; grandchildren, Eric Snider and wife Misty and their daughters, Nina, Jamie, and Rachael; Lisa Hitchcock and husband Jonathan and their children, Eli and Augus Erch; Tomi Yeary and husband Tim and their children, Nigel, Mason, Seth Yeary; great great grandchildren, Daxton Yeary and Zander Yeary.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church 301 South Pecan Street, Bells, Texas 75414.
